Scott County Jail Inmate Records and Roster Lookup

Scott County inmate records begin with the public jail roster maintained for people booked into local custody. A Scott County jail roster search can show current detainees, recent releases, booking photos, booking numbers, dates, and charge summaries, but it is not the same as a court file or a state prison record. Local custody, state prison custody, federal custody, and immigration custody use different systems, so a complete search follows the sheriff roster first and then checks the correct agency channel when the person is not listed.

Scott County Jail Roster Overview

The official Scott County inmate lookup starts with the sheriff's roster chooser. That page separates the Scott County Detention Center roster into current inmates and a 48-hour release view. The same jail is described elsewhere as the Scott County Security Center, located at 111 South First Street in Scottsburg and operated by the Scott County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Jerry Goodin.

The county roster is a booking and custody tool. It is most useful for people recently arrested, held on a warrant, serving local time, held on a writ, or waiting for a court appearance in Scott County. It does not replace Indiana MyCase for filed court cases, the Indiana Department of Correction locator for sentenced state prisoners, the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator for sentenced federal prisoners, or the ICE Online Detainee Locator for immigration custody.

The Scott County current inmate roster is the subject-matched source for the online list view.

How to Use the Scott County Inmate Roster

Start with the sheriff roster chooser rather than a broad web search. Search results for "Scott County jail" often mix Indiana with Scott County pages in other states, while the sheriff roster page title and URL identify the Scottsburg, Indiana system. The roster was free and public when inspected, with no login or payment requirement observed.

  1. Open the roster chooser and select Current Inmates for people still held at the Scott County Detention Center.
  2. If the person may have bonded out or been released very recently, choose the 48 Hour Release view.
  3. Use Search By Name. The placeholder says the field accepts a first or last name, and Show All can be used when the name field is blank.
  4. Sort by name, date, newest to oldest, or oldest to newest when the booking date is easier to remember than spelling.
  5. Open View Profile to compare the booking number, booking date, arresting agency, mugshot, and charge text.
  6. For current bail, charges, or case numbers, call detention center staff at 812-752-8400 before paying money or relying on the profile.

Scott County Roster Search Fields

Scott County uses a compact roster rather than a multi-field advanced search form. The name field is optional or unspecified because Show All is available. The roster can also be browsed by list controls, which helps when the searcher knows the approximate booking date but not the exact spelling.

What a Scott County Inmate Profile Shows

A Scott County booking profile is not a full criminal-history file. A sample roster profile inspected on June 12, 2026 showed a limited but useful field set. It did not show a full date of birth, exact street address, height, weight, eye color, hair color, housing unit, full court schedule, projected release date, or a full case number. Charge labels may include statutory charges, local warrant entries, court orders, writs, or serving-time labels.

The sample Scott County roster profile shows the type of profile fields that may appear after a list result is opened.

The sample profile also carries an important warning: bail amounts and charges may change after court appearances, so the detention center should be contacted for current bail, charges, and case numbers.

Finding County, State, and Federal Inmates

Use the Scott County roster for local jail custody. Use IDOC only after a person is sentenced or transferred to Indiana state prison custody. Use BOP for sentenced federal prison custody and ICE ODLS for immigration detention. Indiana SAVIN and VINELink are notification and custody-status tools, not replacements for sheriff booking records.

Scott County Jail Facilities

Scott County's primary jail is the Scott County Security Center, also called the Scott County Detention Center on roster pages. Scott County Community Corrections is part of the local court-supervision system, but it is not the public jail roster facility and should not be used as the first place to search for a current inmate.

Booking Process in Scott County

After an arrest or court order, the person is taken to the Scott County Security Center. Jail staff create a booking record, assign a booking number, take a booking photo, record the arresting agency, enter the booking date and time, and add charges or hold reasons. The roster can show criminal charges as well as entries such as LOCAL WARRANT, COURT ORDER, WRIT, or SERVING TIME, so the roster entry does not always mean a new street arrest occurred that day.

Medical and intake details are local to this jail. The sheriff's jail information page says Advanced Correctional Healthcare provides medical care, an LPN is on staff 25 hours per week, and a doctor is on call at all times with one scheduled medical day. Prescription medication must be in the original bottle and not expired. Jail staff also handle property inventory and release forms, but confiscated arrest property is handled through the arresting agency.

Bond and court timing can change the record quickly. Scott County's bond page says weekday bonds are accepted at the Scott County Clerk's Office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; after hours and weekends use the Security Center lobby kiosk. Felonies and other offenses outside the listed misdemeanor schedule have bond set at the initial hearing in court.

Visitation Hours and Rules

Scott County visitation is scheduled through InmateSales or by phone at 877-998-5678. Each inmate is allowed one 20-minute visit per seven-day period. Same-day appointments are not allowed, and visitors should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before the scheduled time. A person incarcerated at the Scott County Security Center within the last year from release date may not visit.

How to Contact a Scott County Inmate

Inmate phones use Combined Public Communications and InmateSales. Calls are subject to monitoring and recording, phones are off from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., and jail staff do not pass phone numbers or messages to inmates. Phone accounts may be set up through InmateSales, by phone, or at the lobby kiosk.

Ordinary non-legal mail is routed through TextBehind and must be addressed to the inmate name and inmate ID, Scott County Jail, IN, PO Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076. Legal mail and money orders use the physical jail address at 111 S. 1st Street, Scottsburg, IN 47170. Those two mail routes are different, and the sheriff's page says mail sent to the wrong address can be rejected.

Commissary, Inmate Funds, and Records Requests

Commissary deposits may be made at the Security Center lobby kiosk, by mailed money order, or through JailATM. The sheriff page lists a $3.25 cash transaction fee and a 10% credit or debit fee. Personal checks are not accepted. Commissary money is separate from bond money, which follows the Clerk and kiosk rules described by the sheriff's bond page.

If a booking record is no longer on the roster or is outside the 48-hour release view, use the sheriff records process. The sheriff FAQ says the office may provide public-disclosure information from its Records Management System, including jail booking records and warrant records. The form must be picked up at the Sheriff's Office, returned, and the record is available the next business day. The FAQ has inconsistent fee wording, saying there is no processing fee but also saying the pickup cost is $10, so confirm the current cost with the office before relying on either statement.

The official Scott County Sheriff's Office app on Google Play and Scott County Sheriff's Office app on the Apple App Store are additional public-safety channels. Store listings describe jail, offender, weather, and public-safety notifications, but no official proof was located that the app has a fuller roster than the sheriff website. Use it as an alert channel, not as a replacement for the current roster, IDOC, MyCase, VINELink, BOP, or ICE locators.

Note: Confirm the person is still in Scott County custody before sending money, scheduling a visit, or relying on a displayed bail amount.
